Do It Yourself Window Shutters
If you
don't want to go down the road of choosing a type of window
shutter that's already made to their specifications and you
fancy turning your hand at do it yourself window shutters then
there are a number of options for you.
In times past it used to be
that DIY shutters were available from every home shop or lumber
yard, nowadays the internet seems to be the place to go if you
want to do things for yourself!
Do it yourself window
shutters are generally interior shutter panles mad to a fixed
size. Once you've got these home then you can fit and assemble
them into workable shutter units. The bulk of the work will be
done for you but you may have to cut them down, obviously this
depends on the size of your window. Shutter slatter widths are
the key here!
Beware of buying shutters
made from synthetic materials. Wooden
shutters are your
best bet as they are the easiest to be cut to size.
The first thing to do is to
find the panel size that you'll be wanting to cut the panels
down to. To achieve this, measure across the width of the
window and then simply divide that by the number of panels that
you wish to use in the window. Once you have that figure it
should be a cinch to cut them down to that size and hey presto,
you have the right sized panels!
Don't forget to measure the
height of your window before you order the panels. Also, stuff
like hinges and other hardware are usually sold separately not
as part of the kit so bear that in mind. All in all do it
yourself window shutters are extremely easy to find on the net
and should be a piece of cake to put together. Good luck with
your new shutter adventure!
